HOW TO USE TRYLA TO GENERATE NETBALL TRIAL GAMES

INSTRUCTIONS

  • YOU MUST SELECT "ENABLE MACROS" when you open the workbook. This is very important because Tryla runs on macros, so if you do not enable them it will not work.
Enter your Licence number and club name when prompted.

  • Go to your Dashboard and follow the steps.
    Enter your player details:

    • First Name

    • Last Name

    • Preferred Positions (up to 3)

    • Active (input No if not attending, otherwise leave blank)

    • Seeding if required (leave blank if not needed)

    • Numbering - optional

    • Player history - optional include for selector information only.

  • Complete your preferences eg number of rounds, number of courts, if you need player numbering, if you would like the preferred positions for players and/or seeding to be printed on the court board, plus add bib colours to be shown on the court boards).
  • Generate your court boards and review your outputs - court boards, schedule and game tally.
  • You can manually adjust the court boards to reflect minor changes by selecting players from the drop down lists - the Schedule and Game Tally will automatically update. NB if you have lots of changes (eg to player availability) we recommend regenerating the court boards using the button on the Dashboard.
  • Print your court boards, schedule and game tally ready for your trials - court boards are available in two formats
  • SaveAs your file for sharing with your fellow selectors.

* you will need Windows Excel 2010 or later, unfortunately this is not suitable for Mac users

KEY FEATURES

  • Tryla is an Excel workbook that is macro enabled, allowing you flexibility and easy upload of data (NB Windows users only this is not compatible with a Mac).

  • Allows up to 200 players per trial session and 2 courts.

  • Caters for up to 3 positions, with at least one game in the first and second preferred positions.

  • Add bib colours for trial games.

  • Players are allocated to minimum of 3 games (you will get an error message if you have insufficient rounds to achieve this so you should adjust your parameters).

  • Tryla will allocate only to preferred positions, using a ratio of 45:40:15, to ensure allocations are weighted toward a player's first preference.

  • Seeding of players ensures that top seeded players (seeded as 1) don't play lower ranked players (seeded as 3).

  • Repeated Opponents Report (review repeated matchups).

  • Provides 2 court boards formats - one ordered GS to GK on both sides, or one showing match ups.

  • Court boards include Notes columns so that selectors can record notes during trial games.

  • You can manually adjust the court boards using the drop down boxes.

  • NB if players become unavailable after you have generated the trial games, you can change their Active status to No and they will be automatically removed from the court boards, schedule and game tally.
